Ashland

Growing in the Midst of Natural Splendor

Early European settlers first came to Ashland in the late 17th century, but abandoned their farmsteads during the French and Indian War.  The area was re-setted after the Revolution in 1788, and was incorporated as a town in 1848 from parts of Windham and Prattsville.  Agriculture has played a significant role in the history of Ashland.  More recently, that has expanded to grape varieties that do well in higher altitudes, and organic vegetables and sustainable meats.  With spectacular views of the Great Northern Catskill peaks, seasonal homes in Ashland are on the rise and year-round destinations in Windham make it an attractive location for rural living.
