Grace Brannigan created 27 Cafe as a space dedicated to a shared experience of listening. Inspired by the Jazz Kissa of Japan (where people gathered to drink coffee, tea and alcohol and listen to records on a hi-fi sound system) 27 Cafe has updated that model for a modern audience while maintaining the soul of its predecessors.
Located at 18 West Bridge Street in Catskill, NY in an historic brick building set well back from the roadway, 27 Café feels like a serendipitous secret find the first time you enter. A six-space, meter-free parking lot sits between the building and the street, and a patio for outdoor seating is adjacent – shaded by both buildings and trees.
The café is open 7 days a week, from 8am to 8pm, serving specialty coffee and tea alongside special drinks, pastries and light food. As the day progresses, the cafe additionally offer wine, beer, cider, and less morning-focused food. This curated collection of menu offerings is focused on providing the highest possible quality, with artful preparation and presentation for a truly unique experience.

Within the space, guests sit in one of two listening rooms, or outside on the patio, centered around two unique hi-fi stereo setups each playing full albums at a level of quality and immersion that is near impossible to achieve at home, and certainly not offered at other businesses anywhere nearby.

The main space includes the counter and entrance and feels more traditional, with spaces to converse and work, while the interior space offers a much more intimate experience, where talking is kept to a minimum and the focus remains on listening.

Special programming centered around group listening will be offered weekly, featuring sets by known DJs, album release parties by artists, and more. A membership tier allowing frequent patrons to gain no-cost access to these events alongside discounts on purchases.
27 Cafe draws in both local and visiting customers. It is steadily frequented by local creative professionals with schedule flexibility, who are often working from coffee shops. Many visiting guests also seek out public spaces to work, read, and socialize. The wi-fi is great, but guests are encouraged to be mindful of the listening aspect of the business and not take virtual conferences that would distract from the experience of others.
This unique destination attracts guests who seek an intentional, high-quality social setting. For menu offerings and events go to https://27cafe.info/
