The Avalon Lounge (located at 29 Church Street in the Village of Catskill) is well known as a place for friends to gather for drinks, dance, and eclectic live music. Avalon’s three interconnected spaces (upstairs & downstairs) provide patrons with perfect purviews for celebration and conversation. Add homestyle Korean food favorites to the mix, and you’ve got a terrific treat for all the senses.
Liam and Laura Singer relocated to the Village of Catskill and opened the highly popular HiLo Café in 2016. Well know for its espresso, cocktails, fun food, and live music, this gathering place served as a both a destination for visitors and a social hub for the downstreet Catskill community. The noise concerns associated with live music caused Liam & Laura to seek another village venue to accommodate performances, and just prior to the pandemic, they opened the Avalon Lounge.
As restrictions on gatherings eased, Avalon quickly became a popular meeting place for music, dancing, and fun. To further set Avalon apart, Laura convinced chef-friend Annie Poole to try her hand at developing a menu centered around Korean comfort-food. Fast forward to 2025, and some of the delicious offerings include: Asian inspired cocktails, Pajeon (crispy scallion pancake), and the addictive Kimbab (veggie sushi-like roll).
The upstairs space provides comfy conversation stations, ample seating for large and small groups, and a vintage pool table to boot.
The performance/dance room is a flexible space with a stage, upright piano, and a classic Hammond E-11 organ complete with Leslie speaker system!
The Avalon Lounge is open Wednesdays through Sundays from 5PM. Annie’s kitchen serves from 5PM to 10PM on weekdays, and til 11PM on weekends. Cover charges for shows are usually collected at the door to the performance space, with continued free entry to the bar and lounge throughout the evening.
