A new wine bar recently opened in an 1824 Main Street Windham building once damaged by Tropical Storm Irene, located between the Post Office and the Windham Civic and Performing Arts Center.
The Ze Windham Wine Bar has opened in the nearly 200-year-old house, set back from Route 23. “Windham has tons of great restaurants, and there are lots of good breweries nearby, but we needed a place to sip a glass of wine and enjoy a light bite,” said owner Cordelia Schreiber. “Windham didn’t have that.”
Schreiber started the business with her parents, full-time residents of the Greene County ski town. Following the buildings damage from Irene, the Schreiber family spent 2 years renovating the house, which was previously home to the Windham Spa.
The Ze Windham Wine Bar plans on having their formal opening on Columbus Day weekend, October 10-11. The bar seats 22 and the beverage menu includes a large selection of wines as well as a few bottled beers and specialty coffees and teas.
Ze Windham Wine Bar is also serving up small bites including cheeses and charcuterie plates with a variety of dips and spreads, as well as a selection of pastries and desserts.
Find Ze Windham Wine Bar at 5369 Route 23. Regular hours are Tuesday through Thursday 3 to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday noon to 1 a.m. and Sunday noon to 9 p.m.
