Continuing to Strengthen the Town of Prattsville — February 24, 2015

The Town of Prattsville will receive an award of $231,000 from the Economic Development Council to advance priority projects in 2015. More specifically, the funds will help implement the town’s NY Rising and Long Term Recovery plans, namely the design and construction of Phase 2 of the Schoharie Creek Trail Project. Phase 2 involves extending the trail to connect with the Historic Arnold House and Big Loop trail network. The project will also include building local capacity through staff support to create a more resilient and revitalized community.

Contemporary “River Crossings” Exhibit at Thomas Cole and Olana Historic Sites — February 18, 2015

The Thomas Cole National Historic Site and Olana State Historic Site are partnering to present a first‐of‐its‐kind exhibition of contemporary artwork entitled “River Crossings: Contemporary Art Comes Home.” The exhibit will be curated by Albany, NY born artist Stephen Hannock and renowned art historian Jason Rosenfeld, PhD.

Greene County had the highest job growth in New York State for 2014! — January 26, 2015

Job numbers from the NYS Department of Labor showed a 500-job increase in Greene County during the month of December 2014 as compared with December 2013. This translates into 3.4% growth for the county, by far the highest growth percentage for a county in New York State in December, and up from the 3.1% growth reported back in November 2014.

County Planning Board Ellen Rettus Planning Achievement Awards Presented at November Meeting of County Legislature — November 25, 2014

Each year the Greene County Planning Board and Greene County Legislature partner to present the Ellen Rettus Planning Achievement Awards. Ellen Rettus was a long term County Planning Board member who served for several years as Chairperson of the Greene County Planning Board and Chairperson of the Town of Durham Planning Board. As Chairperson of these boards, Ellen worked to promote sound and thoughtful planning throughout Greene County.
